Edinburgh’s population is aging. There are more older people living in the city and more residents can expect to live into old age. However the Council is unlikely to receive any additional money to pay for care and support services for older people. This means that to prevent their health deteriorating, we need to find ways of helping people live active, engaged and fulfilling lives for as long as possible, at no extra cost – either by changing the way we do things, or by finding a way to make new services pay for themselves.

The Council is interested in hearing your ideas about:

  • How do we make Edinburgh more physically accessible for older people?
  • How do we make Edinburgh more caring and supportive for older people?
  • How can communities be encouraged to involve older people more?
  • How can we encourage older people to participate more in their communities?
  • How can we get more older people taking regular exercise?
